Get to know Palma de Mallorca

One of the main tourist attractions is the Cathedral La Seu. Built in the 13th century, it is representative of the Levantine Gothic style. You can explore its interior to enjoy the coloured light filtering through the stained-glass windows and rose window, as well as beautiful chapels, such as the Santísimo. Gaudí's intervention in the early 20th century renovation is also interesting to see. If you visit Mallorca at Christmas, the Christmas Eve mass in the cathedral is recommended, with the prophetic singing of La Sibila, accompanied by the organ.

A few kilometres away from Palma you can also find the Castell de Bellver, a castle built in the 14th century by King Jaime II. In addition to being an example of Mallorcan Gothic architecture, it offers stunning views of the city, the port and the Tramontana mountain range.

Visit the museums

The Baluard Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art has more than 500 works by local and international artists, including Miquel Barceló, Francesca Martí and Pablo Picasso. The Juan March Foundation, housed in a former mansion, offers exhibitions of international artists and a permanent exhibition with works by Miró, Juan Gris and Salvador Dalí. The Pilar and Joan Miró Foundation exhibits more than 7,000 works by the artist Joan Miró.

The Serra de Tramontana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a paradise for winter hiking lovers. The Barranco de Biniaraix route offers spectacular views and scenery, especially when the torrent carries water. Another option is the route from the Ermita de la Victoria to Talaia de Alcudia, short and simple, with panoramic views of the bays and the Serra de Tramuntana.
